The Youth Culture and Human Dignity Initiative is an NGO registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission in Nigeria; We hold the rare attribute of initiating and organizing Nigeria’s first ever Music Video Awards (NMVA) in 2007, a program that has held annually at the Eko Hotels, Lagos. Also very notable of our production is the annual Peace Icons/Violence-free World Initiative. Our trustee members are drawn from the field of academia, law, cultural activism and media. The NGO is led by Mr. Cally Ikpe veteran broadcaster of repute and culture activist. He holds an MSc in Media and Communication from the Pan-Atlantic University, Lagos and presently a doctoral student, researching on the culture of violence from the same institute.
Redirecting the mindsets of youths towards more beneficial ventures is at the core of our ideals as enunciated in our program, Road to a Violence-free Nigeria Initiative. Being a neutral and an independent body, with a pedigree of an enduring relationship with the youth population through our educational and entertainment programs, spanning over a decade, we are in a good position to communicate the genuine hope for a peaceful and prosperous Nigeria as held by the Government. We accordingly hope to point at existing and potential opportunities to which participants may leverage on in the course of the program.
Trustee/Legal Adviser and Secretary
Kargbo was educated at the University of Benin where he obtained his Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) (Second Class Lower) Hons in 1990. He is a member of the Nigerian Bar and the International Bar Association. He earned his Master of Laws degree (LL.M) from the Lagos State University in 1996 where he taught International Economic Law at the Post Graduate Department of the Faculty of Law between 2001 and 2007.
Sam Kargbo has a thriving Law Practice with functional and well-equipped offices in Lagos and Abuja. Sam Kargbo is a prolific writer and a respected personality in most of the intellectual platforms and fora in Nigeria. He is a regular guest to many television hosts. He has been a weekly newspaper columnist and member of the Editorial Board of the Daily Independent since 2001. He also writes for Daylight online newspaper. Sam Kargbo is a regular contributor to two of Nigeria’s foremost intellectual platforms- the Nigeria Village Square and nigeriansinamerica.com. He has published law articles in Academic and Practice journals spanning several areas of the law. He was among the Consultants who annotated the Laws of Delta State. He was the co-founder of the Negotiation and Conflict Management Group, the body that pioneered and mainstreamed Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) in Nigeria.
Sam Kargbo was Legal Adviser and Senior Special Assistant to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Administration, between 2008 and 2010. He is presently the Principal Partner of Jackson, Kargbo & Associates with offices in Lagos and Abuja.
Sam Kargbo is a recipient of the prestigious Distinguished University of Benin Alumnus award, an award he received along with such a notable personality as Raji Fashola, Former Governor of Lagos State and now Honourable Minister of Power, Works and Housing of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Sam Kargbo has also invested in schools, movies and music. He is a Legal Adviser to many blue chip companies and NGOs in Nigeria. He is a philanthropist.
Sam Kargbo is married to Stella Samuel Kargbo with whom he has two sets of twins.
